Panjumbie

Welcome to the Panjumbie.com Photo Gallery
South of Arcata I drove the Avenue of the Giants, a road that runs through some of the remaining California Redwood stands in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. It basically follows the route of US 101, now mostly a freeway, but is a more pleasant ride through the forest and along the Eel River.

The redwood forests, or what's left of them, are so quiet and calming. It is sad that so much of the California redwood old growth, with many trees over 1000 years old, has been cut down.

South of there, I would have chosen to take the coastal road, California route 1, but it was closed in several locations due to landslides resulting from California's very wet winter. Therefore I stayed on un-photogenic 101 back to San Francisco.
