Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
June 2024, playing the tourist in DC and vicinity.
About half the museum was closed for a major renovation. I was aware of that before my visit, but had hoped to be able to see LM-2 which they have on exhibit. Back when I worked for Grumman, in the late 1960s, I was actually inside LM-2 on occasion.
LM-2 was supposed to be a second unmanned test flight of the LM. But the flight of LM-1 was successful enough that the LM-2 flight was cancelled. The vehicle was later loaned to the Smithsonian.
Unfortunately LM-2 was in the part of the museum that was closed while I was in DC, so I didn't get to see it.
