WPI Reunion Weekend 2024, my 60th
After arriving Friday evening in time for the opening get-together, I became aware that there was an unusually strong Aurora Borealis that evening. Since it had been years since I'd observed the Aurora, I wanted to see it.
It was obvious that it wouldn't be visible in brightly lit Worcester, so I drove north to Mount Wachusett, and walked from the parking area up the road to the bottom of the ski slope, where there was a good view to the north. I was told I had missed the best part of the show, bright red and violet, about an hour earlier, but there was some green, partly hidden behind the clouds.
Unfortunately, my tripod was back in New York, so I did not attempt to use my good SLR to take photos, but instead used my cell phone camera in "night" mode. These are not great photos, but the Aurora is plainly visible.
