Since I went to the rehearsal of "A Capitol Fourth" on the 3rd of July, instead of the broadcast on the 4th, that left me with an open day. Having never been to Gettysburg, which wasn't far from my hotel in Maryland, I decided to visit.
Let me tell you, if you have any interest in American history, particularly the history of the Civil War, this is another must see.
The history of the battles at Gettysburg comes alive when you are able to tour the museum there, and then visit the actual sites of the battles. Another sobering day.
