I was last at the Smithsonian museums in the mid-1980s, before this museum was built. The Smithsonian has done its usual excellent job of presenting the history of Black people and aspects of their culture. The walk along the timeline from the first Black slaves in the British colonies up to the present is particularly sobering.
I took very few photos in the museum, less than I should have, but spent most of my time contemplating what I was seeing.
